KYC and Account Verification at Playinmatch
KYC stands for “Know Your Customer.” It is a standard verification process used by financial and gaming platforms to confirm your identity. At Playinmatch, we use KYC to protect your account from fraud, prevent underage gaming, and comply with Indian financial regulations.
We know uploading documents can feel like a chore. But it is the best way to ensure that only you can access your funds and personal data. This page explains exactly what we need, why we need it, and how to get approved on the first try.
When Is KYC Required?
You can create an account, deposit, and play without uploading documents right away. We do not want to slow down your first visit.
You will need to complete KYC verification before your first withdrawal. We may also ask for documents if your total deposits cross a certain threshold, or if our security system flags unusual account activity.
Getting verified early is a smart move. It means your first withdrawal will process without any delays.
What Documents Do We Accept?
We only ask for standard documents that you likely already have on your phone or in your wallet. All documents must be valid, unexpired, and show your full name and date of birth.
Proof of Identity (POI)
You need to upload a clear photo of one of the following government-issued IDs:
- Aadhaar Card (Front and back)
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Voter ID Card
- Driving Licence
Proof of Address (POA)
If your POI does not show your current address, or if the address on your account differs from your ID, we need a separate address proof. The document must be dated within the last three months.
- Aadhaar Card (if not used for POI)
- Recent bank statement showing your address
- Electricity, water, or gas bill
- Passport
Proof of Payment (POP)
To prevent money laundering, we need to confirm that the payment method belongs to you.
- For UPI: A screenshot of your UPI app profile showing your name and UPI ID.
- For Bank Transfer: A recent bank statement or a photo of your debit card (you can hide the middle digits and CVV).
How to Upload Your Documents
The upload process is built directly into your account dashboard. You do not need to email files to a random support address.
- Log in to your Playinmatch account.
- Click on your profile icon and select Account Settings.
- Go to the Verification or KYC tab.
- Choose the document type you want to upload (Identity, Address, or Payment).
- Take a new photo using your phone camera, or upload a clear image from your gallery.
- Crop the image if needed, ensuring all four corners are visible.
- Click Submit.
You will see a status update on the same page. It will show “Pending” while our team reviews it, and “Approved” once it passes.
Tips for Fast Approval
Most KYC rejections happen because of bad photos. Follow these quick rules when taking pictures of your documents:
- Show all four corners: Do not crop the edges of the ID card or paper.
- Keep it flat: Place the document on a table. Do not hold it in your hand.
- Avoid glare: Turn off the camera flash. Make sure no light reflects off the plastic covering your ID.
- Check the focus: Zoom in slightly to ensure all text and numbers are sharp and readable.
- Upload in color: Black and white scans or photocopies are not accepted.
How KYC Stops Account Takeovers
Imagine someone guesses your password or steals your phone. Without KYC, they could log in, change the withdrawal details to their own bank account, and drain your balance.
Because we require KYC, the system knows exactly who the account belongs to. If a withdrawal is requested to a new bank account that does not match the verified KYC name, the system blocks it automatically.
This is why we strongly recommend completing your KYC verification the same day you create your account. It locks your account to your identity from minute one.
Our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Rules
Playinmatch strictly follows Anti-Money Laundering (AML) guidelines. We do not allow our platform to be used to clean illicit funds or move money illegally.
What does this mean for you?
- You must use a bank account or UPI ID registered in your own name. Third-party deposits are not allowed.
- You must wager your deposited funds before requesting a withdrawal. We are a gaming platform, not a currency exchange.
- Our system monitors transactions for unusual patterns. If an account looks suspicious, we will pause it and ask for extra proof to show the funds are legitimate.
If we detect actual money laundering or fraud, we will close the account and report the activity to the relevant Indian authorities.
Understanding Source of Wealth (SOW)
For most users, a simple ID and address proof are enough. But if your deposits or withdrawals reach a very high amount, Indian financial regulations require us to ask for a Source of Wealth (SOW) check.
This is not an accusation. It is a standard legal requirement for high-value financial transactions. We just need to understand where the money is coming from.
Accepted Source of Wealth Documents
Depending on your situation, you can provide:
Employment
Recent payslips, an employment contract, or a letter from your employer.
Business Ownership
Company registration documents, recent tax returns, or audited financial statements.
Investments
Statements showing the sale of property, stocks, or mutual funds.
Inheritance or Gifts
Legal documents proving the transfer of funds, such as a will or a gift deed.
Savings
Bank statements showing a steady accumulation of savings over time.
If you are asked for a Source of Wealth check, your account withdrawals will be paused until the documents are approved. Our team will guide you through exactly what is needed for your specific case.
Strict Age Verification
India has strict laws regarding online gaming and minors. Playinmatch has a zero-tolerance policy for underage gaming.
During the KYC process, our team manually checks the date of birth on your ID. If the ID shows you are under 18, or if we suspect a minor is using an adult’s details, the account is closed immediately. Any funds deposited by a minor are refunded to the original payment source, and the account is permanently banned.
Parents and guardians should also be aware. If you share a device with a minor, never save your Playinmatch login details in the browser. Always log out when you finish playing.
Updating Your Verified Details
Life happens. You might move to a new city, change your phone number, or update your name.
If your personal details change, you must update your Playinmatch profile. If your account name no longer matches your bank account, your withdrawals will fail.
To update your details, contact our support team through live chat. They will guide you through a quick re-verification process. You will just need to upload your new ID or address proof. The old documents will be securely archived and replaced.
How We Protect Your Documents
Your privacy is just as important as your security. When you upload a document to Playinmatch, it is encrypted immediately.
Only our trained compliance team can view your files. They only access them when reviewing a specific verification request. We never sell your data, and we never share it with marketing companies. Once your account is closed and all legal retention periods have passed, your documents are permanently deleted from our servers.
KYC Frequently Asked Questions
01 How long does KYC verification take?
Most documents are reviewed and approved within 12 to 24 hours. If we ask for a clearer photo, it might take a bit longer.
02 Why was my document rejected?
The most common reasons are blurry text, missing corners, glare from the flash, or an expired ID. Check the rejection email for the exact reason and upload a better photo.
03 Can I use my friend's bank account to deposit?
No. The name on your Playinmatch account must exactly match the name on your bank account or UPI ID. Third-party payments violate our AML policy and will result in account closure.
04 Do I need to do KYC again if I change my phone?
No. Once your account is fully verified, you can log in from any device without uploading documents again, unless your account activity triggers a routine security check.
05 What happens if I refuse to provide KYC documents?
If you do not complete verification when requested, you will not be able to withdraw your funds. In some cases, we may have to restrict your account entirely to comply with legal regulations.
06 Can I hide parts of my bank statement?
You can hide your account balance and unrelated transactions. But your name, the bank's logo, the account number, and the date of the statement must be fully visible.
