Rugby Betting on Playinmatch

Rugby runs across two codes on Playinmatch: Rugby Union and Rugby League. The international calendar anchors the year, but club competitions from Europe, the Southern Hemisphere, and beyond fill every weekend. When one tournament rests, another kicks off somewhere else in the world.

You can bet before the first whistle or while the match runs live. Exchange mode lets you back a team or lay against it at market prices. Sportsbook mode gives fixed odds with a single tap. Both settle on the official result declared by the match referee after eighty minutes plus stoppage time.

What You Can Bet On

The rugby board covers every major competition in both codes. International tournaments get the deepest coverage. Club leagues still carry the core lines.

Six Nations

The Six Nations is the biggest Rugby Union event in the Northern Hemisphere. England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales play each other once across five weekends in February and March.

Outright winner markets open months before the tournament starts. Match winner, handicap, total points, and first try scorer lines appear for every fixture. The final weekend carries expanded coverage, including championship decider markets.

Southern Hemisphere

Rugby Championship

The Rugby Championship is the Southern Hemisphere equivalent. New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Argentina play home and away across August and September.

Match markets mirror the Six Nations in depth. Handicap, total points, and winning margin lines cover every round. Bledisloe Cup fixtures between New Zealand and Australia get extra player markets.

Rugby World Cup

The Rugby World Cup runs every four years and gets the deepest market list on the platform. Outright winner, pool winner, and top try scorer markets open a year before the tournament starts.

Match markets expand once the draw is confirmed. Handicap, total points, winning margin, and first try scorer lines appear for every pool and knockout game. The final carries hundreds of markets.

Super Rugby Pacific

Super Rugby Pacific runs from February to June with teams from New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and the Pacific Islands. This competition fills the Southern Hemisphere window during the Northern off-season.

Match winner, handicap, and total points markets cover every round. Time zones work well for Indian users, with most matches landing in the morning or afternoon IST.

Rugby League

Rugby League runs separately from Union with its own competitions. The NRL (Australia and New Zealand) and Super League (UK and France) are the two major leagues.

National Rugby League Super League State of Origin

NRL runs from March to October. Super League runs from February to July. Both carry match winner, handicap, total points, and first try scorer markets.

State of Origin, the annual three-match series between New South Wales and Queensland, gets expanded coverage. Outright series winner, match winner, and player markets open weeks before the first game.

Popular Rugby Markets

Every rugby match opens with a standard set of markets. Deeper lines appear closer to kickoff.

  • Match Winner: Back or lay the team you think will win.
  • Handicap: A virtual point advantage applied to one team before the match starts.
  • Total Points: Over or under a set combined score for both teams.
  • Winning Margin: Bet on the point difference between the two teams.
  • First Try Scorer: Pick the player who scores the first try of the match.
  • Anytime Try Scorer: Pick a player to score a try at any point in the match.
  • Top Try Scorer: Pick the player who scores the most tries in the match.
  • Total Tries: Over or under a set number of tries in the match.
  • Half-Time Leader: Bet on which team leads at the interval.
  • Double Result: Pick the half-time leader and the full-time winner in one bet.

How Rugby Odds Work on Playinmatch

Rugby uses a two-team layout since draws are rare in both codes. Column 1 is the home team, and column 2 is the away team.

Blue boxes show back prices. Pink boxes show lay prices. Each box displays the odds and the money available at that price. Higher liquidity means your bet matches faster.

In sportsbook mode, the layout simplifies to fixed odds. Tap the price, enter your stake, and confirm. The odds shown are the odds you get unless the market moves before confirmation.

Handicap lines show the adjustment next to the odds. A -7.5 handicap means the team must win by eight or more points for the bet to land. A +7.5 handicap means the team can lose by seven or fewer points, or win outright.

Live Rugby Betting

In-Play rugby moves with every phase. A try, a penalty, or a yellow card shifts the odds instantly. Markets pause briefly during TMO reviews and injury stoppages, then reopen with updated prices.

Live markets include:

  • Next try scorer
  • Match winner (live)
  • Total points (live)
  • Next team to score
  • Current half total
  • Winning margin (live)

The Today and Tomorrow tabs let you plan ahead. Mark the matches you want and come back when they kick off.

Rugby Betting Rules

  • All bets settle on the official result after eighty minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time does not count unless the market specifically states otherwise.
  • If a match is abandoned before completion, bets are void unless the result is already mathematically determined.
  • First try scorer markets settle on the first try awarded by the referee. Penalty tries do not count toward first try scorer unless stated otherwise.
  • Handicap markets settle on the final score after applying the adjustment. A push (exact match) results in a void bet.
  • Minimum stake is ₹10 across all rugby markets.

Can I bet on rugby before the match starts?

Yes. Pre-match markets open as soon as the fixture is confirmed. Most lines appear days before kickoff.
